The wet spot is not always the source.

We trace where runoff enters, where it concentrates, what the existing grade is doing and where water can be safely discharged. Depending on the property, the solution may involve grading, surface collection, French drains, solid-pipe conveyance, channel work, rock stabilization or a combination.

Two Wunder project scopes show how the work changes with the source of the water, the existing grade and the route to the outlet.

Fultondale · Foundation drainage

Connect the grading, trench and roof-water plan.

The scope addressed the front and side of a home where the ground sloped toward the foundation. It brought together perimeter excavation, a drain line with gravel and separation fabric, selected downspout connections, and regrading of the affected areas.

Access, existing sidewalk sections and the outlet location were part of the planning. The drainage scope was defined separately from structural foundation repairs and interior restoration.

Bessemer · Channel stabilization

Work with an existing drainage path.

This scope centered on approximately 29 linear feet of an existing erosion channel. It called for minor hand preparation, securely anchored reinforcement matting, and localized stone protection at the entrance and outlet.

The existing channel contour was retained in the scope, with attention to the transitions where concentrated runoff entered and left the treated area.
